  • Century Tip Tornado Match OR Century CME

    Ah reet lads,

which one of these rods TTM/CME/CMC is better for clean to mixed ground, i have read many reports and still undecided, so i thought i would put it out to the wise heads

I already have the SS and love this rod, but i think i need something a bit softer to bring my casting on a bit, I will keep the SS for the rocks or until i have learned to put a curve in the thing so i can get better distance from the beach, I try to cast from the ground/simple over head lobs, and also progressing to a half pendulum (if there is such a thing)

the reason for century is simply i like the build quality of the SS and thinking will get the same with either of the above

thanks in advance for the comments, and apologies if this has already been asked before

Just bought an SS today, in my opinion you should perservere with your SS and save your money.

I had one previously that was nicked so it was a simple choice to replace it with the same.

          cheers,

think i have made my mind up with me wanting another rod, I think I am just using the clean mixed ground excuse to justify it to myself

I'd stick with yer kompressor mate, great rod like you say, loads of guys use them and get good distance easy. If I were you I'd try and latch on to someone who is a canny chucker and maybe they can put you right. Might not even be the rod and the way you're casting it might be the reel yer using and the way it's set up. Just a thought like

The cme is a nice easy casting rod that is capable of huge distances

                Won't be disappointed

I agree with this bloke!! I have the SS and think its 1of the best rods out there, well for me it is. av been going onto the beach during day light practising my casting using slosh30 trying to set it all up.. It pays to do this obviuosly..
                  what real do you use>??

Your komp ss is a "J" curve and so is the ttm with a match tip. the cmc is pretty much same power as the komp ss from what you have said the only rod thats the same length casts the same weight but has a more through action "C" curve is the cme it ticks all the boxes. I had one recently pleasure to fish and cast over clean to mix ground with. Second hand you can pick them up at a good price as alot of people mistake them for pokers buy them then sell on.

you wwould be better off having a try of some one who already owns the rods your thinking of instead of going on someones recomemdation. i found out myself when i bought a tippy sport brand new and i didnt like it i have a couple of rods if you would like to try them instead of spending money blind i have a axcellarator a carbon metal crest a afaw tournament rock and a sk4 your wellcome to try none of them are clean beach rods but to be honest there are lots of cheap rods which will cope with summer time fishing

                        ^this^

If you are looking for a rod to learn to cast on then the CME is about the best out there (along with the Primo Synchro). Unlike the Kompressor, Tip Sport (new model) or even CM Crest it won't rip your shoulder or put you on your arse if you get the timing a bit wrong (though it will give you a gentle nudge). That said it is still plenty powerful enough and capable of very respectable distances - I did my first 200 metre cast on the CME.

It is also a cracking clean to mixed ground fishing rod, the only thing that lets it down is that it is HEAVY, especially when compared to a ZZippy.

Too many people think you need a stiff rod for casting. Maybe at the upper end, once you are hitting a regular 200 metres (220 yards) a stiffer rod will get you further. But for learning you need a forgiving rod that you can bend and allow you to develop your technique without also having to fight against the rod.

                          cheers lads

thanks for all the advice, so i think it is down to two (CME or the BB) off what you have recommended and what i have researched from your recommendations

after a quick look on the usual bidding web sight for used ones i couldn't find a used Century BB but there is a few CME on there so will keep an eye out for those

also if any of you lot know of any one selling a CME or a BB in the Newcast;e area then get them to drop me a PM

                          thanks again lads

the carbon metal express is easy to load up and cast but in a fishing situation it blows about in the wind and has poor bite detection and is heavy
