  • mag elite question!!

    hi all
just wanting to know whats the highest breaking stain mono you would
use on a 6500 mag elite for main line
i use 15lb F1 and 60lb shocker but could you use a heavier line straight
    through with no shocker
iknow these reels are clean to mixed ground but are they just 20lb main line max line reels or could you use owt heavier
any help would be great lads!!

I wouldn't go passed 20lb mate if you want to use say 30lb straight through I would use a different reel. The 6500 is a good reel but better suited to clean / mixed ground. It's more for casting than dragging through kelp.

I wouldn't mate, it's an out and out chucking machine, 20lb max and that's if yer using thin dia line like f1, so you will need a shock

i use a line called awa shima i use its .30mm and rated at 30lb had no issues with it and its gettimg more and more popular. i sued to use f1 but i find as soon as it has been stretched its terrible.

just my opinion though so i moved to awa shima as it casts really well.
