The specialist option does sound the best. The big magazines chains like EMAP (Sea Angler etc) have, I believe, their own print facilities in-house which means lower cost if you can get them interested.

One other option you didn\'t mention is to produce it as an interactive DVD - read the text on the TV and view the images at your leisure.

I would certainly not pay anything to anyone to have your book printed, they are just trying to get your money and they are not bothered if it sells or not, what about marketing/promotion afterwards. There is another way instaed of hawking your book from one publisher to another hoping that you will come across the right one for your type of book. That is get an agent, if you simply type Literary Agent into google/jeeves extra you will find plenty and if they take your book they will find a suitable publisher. Of course they will take a % of all you sell.

3,500 copies ? i take it thats a minimum print run there prepared to do

whatever option you went for id still buy a couple, but as stated its your cash on the line ,id put it on hold until you can find a publisher whos at least gonna meet you half way,the amount of interest generated on nesa alone proves its gonna be a seller,

knock on every door m8 someone out there will have faith enough to take the chance

just as a second thought does it matter if the pics are colour ? B&W might just be a nice touch ,after all its the story that counts

Just a thought dave , Ron Young has his two books \"Wrecks of the north east coast\" published by \"Tempest\" publishers . I have spoken to Ron on a another matter last year and he is very approachable , friendly chap . He lives in Seahouses now and I got his number from Tempest . He may put you right

Thanks for all your help lads. I\'ve just had a look through all the books I have on local life and guess what - they\'re all in black and white. Have taken on board all the avenues you have offered and will now pursue them as a coiled spring (as opposed to a beaten lettuce when I went out). The spirit is rejuvinated and I\'m back on the case.

David, when I went to Mozambique last year there was a guy called Paul Morgan on the trip, he specialises in sal****er fly-fishing books, if you want I can drop him an email and see if he can suggest something more suitable for you.
On another note how about going to the library and checking out the angling books to
See if there is the same publishers name appearing on a few books, those publishing houses may only deal with angling books

david ,have you thought about a publisher like beekay who produce most of the carp fishing books ,i ,m sure even if they did decline they would give you loads of decent advice (the proper advice )as i,m sure by what you say they are taking your money and runnin.just go into a tackle shop and see who produces sea,fresh ,game books and ring them up for a chat .

Not about to give advice on something I have liitle knowledge about david, Just moral support. Personnally, I prefer black and white pics, as you have to look deeper into them, but thats not an answer.
Id just say take your time mate, and you will find what youre looking for eventually. have you tried sponsorship from N?E tackle shops?? to help you? just a thougt.
