  • Balanced Spool

What is the prefered method or your method for filling your spool to obtain a perfect balance to your reel.

I normally start off with the knot to one side of the spool then make two small even humps on either side of the spool to act as a balance then fill it up,I\'ve just filled my new one up which has been serviced/checked but this time I made even layers of line with the start knot in the middle of the spool and it seems alot smoother than the other one, might be luck or is this the correct/best method.Hope this makes sense as I\'m no casting expert just like trouble free casting like you\'s lot lol. Thanks

i always have my knot in the middle and wind on the first layer then fill out the edges then the middle till level then wind on evenly until ive got what i need on then take a few winds back off so i know ill not get over runs add my shock leader with the knot to one side ,seems to work ok and beds in nicely after a few casts

Never really thought about it, to be honest, Alan.

I\'ve always just filled the spool in even layers and never had much in the way of problems.

Might give the \"2 humps\" method a go .......see if I notice any difference.
