  • Waders

Hi all, im after some new neoprene chest waders. Ive had Greys grxi ones and the boots split, Daiwa ones lasted but fancy something else as the boots became brittle and hard. Ive just lost out on some Barbour ones on a bidding site and im wounded! What do you use and what would you recommend.

    waders

I use the Vass rubber waders. Very strong not to hot not to cold. Only criticism is the soles on the boots do not have much support, can hurt your feet when walking over rocks. I put some insoles in, sorted. personally think they are excellent for the money.

dont really fancy the rubber ones as i tend to cover a few miles when i go to a mark and think id sweat more in them. If i had the coin then i would consider the sonics but too dear at 120 notes. Been looking about and seen linaffe or somthing but not heard good or bad.

what about warmth when its bitter though Steve? Thats probably why im swaying towards the neoprene rather than rubber. Whats the weight comparison against each other also?
                  Cheers for the replies guys.

Lewis Tackle in Whitley Bay was doing the Soniks for £79 - not sure if they're still that price but worth a call maybe to find out. I like mine but they're a very snug fit - not for the "fuller bodied"! The Vass ones are good as well, I wear them during the warmer months but just noticed today that there's a little patch on the inside of one knee where they've been rubbing whilst walking and it's nearly worn through, so time to stick on a dab of Aquasure. It's a problem that I used to have a lot with the old Oceans as well, but not something to worry about with the tighter fitting neoprenes.

Flubber! Aye its canny when its cold but not when your yomping to a mark! Ive made the mistake once of changing my mark and deciding to walk up Shields pier in chesties...never ever again, i was up to my knees in sweat on the inside of them all night!

Well that rules out the sonics then! Liked the discounted price but if they are for skinny boys then they aint for me! Easier to repair the rubber ones too i expect?

Bought some vass waders in may for salmon fishing never again, never had a pair of waders that hole so easy hate to think what there going to be like in the winter when i start fishing the rock edges again.
