    I can do!
    But normally use an inertia style, swinging the lead under the rod using a long drop of 8ft or so. Having the reel as low as poss gives me more usable rod length, slowing my cast a bit.
    If it dose make the rod feel softer I won't mind!
    I also have a tts metal band and might do the same with that!

      Just to finish this thread off, Mr Rutherford sorted me out with a reducer that fits nicely
      It slides a good 8" into the butt but still gonna whip the rod butt.
