RT Axe reducer?

I want to make my axe longer by permanently fixing a reducer into the butt.
Is this even possible with these rods?

Cant see any reason why not aslong as the reel is mounted on the blank itself and not the reducer (right just before join)

I would only do it for reel down position as reel up too muchforce applied on the reducer could cause the blank of rod to fracture

You can fish with the reducer permanently fitted even with the reel up. Just have area at the base of the butt section where the reducer plugs into whipped for about six inches, just like the spiggott area in the middle of the rod. This will provide more than enough strength for even powerful casting.
Have you ever had a spiggott break? No, neither have I.

I wanted to fish reel down, with the reel mounted onto the reducer. Guess its a bad idea then, I wonder how much difference it makes as the rod will be under the same stress wether the reel is high or low

I fished with a one in my wr300 mrk1 mounted the reel 2 inches from the butt and cut the reducer down to 9inches when fitted making the rod 14ft the reel seat when locked into position gave marginal support to the butt section and reducer.

Reel up you tend to pull more with your left hand holding the very bottom of the reducer than you push with your right so if the reducer is quite long you have more leaverage which can cause the bottom of the blank to split.

Most furrule joints at the female end are reinforced with extra wraps of carbon for strength the zzipys I have are but most rods at the butt section arnt it's the risk you take mate it might be fine or one day it might just go bang but so can any rod at anytime.

I can see what your saying, however, if it does break the manufacturer will have a very good reason NOT to replace item.

My opinion would be leave it as is.

I personally would still use the reducer, mount reelseat on the very bottom of the blank amd use the reducer as the bit which is usually there under the reel anyway... Then your still gaining about 6-8 inches

Yes I'm gonna try what you say mate,
It's finding a reducer that will fit now!
I'll have a look in Rutherfords and quiz Andy about it.

if its the 6-8oz one just use a length of scaffy pole it will be just the same!

If i remember correctly conoflex do reducers reasonably priced in all sorts of diamaters

works fine if you glue it a shrink wrap over the top on my rock rod makes it a bit stiffer to as the reel is right at the bottom of your rod

sure a wr300 reducer fits in a excellerator

having the reel at the very bottom of your rod will make the rod feel softer during the cast, also i cant understand why you want your reel so far down, do you swing it??
