  • Unusual sinker mold. Any ideas?

A work colleague recently gave me some old fishing gear that belonged to his dad who sadly passed away last year. Among the stuff was an old sinker mold that I'd never seen before. I cast a few sinkers from it to take some photos. Does anyone know what this shape of sinker is called or what it's for?
I suspect that it's for fishing from the rocks and the shape of the flats might cause the sinker to lift off the bottom when reeling in.
The weight of the sinkers is 5ozs.

Here's some pics of the mold. It may well be home engineered, but if it is, he's made a cracking job of it.

Never seen that type of weight for over 25 years.
We used to use them for beach fishing as when they land on the bottom the blade shape digs in the sand and doesn't roll about.
                They cast well too.
                Hope this helps.

Yeah Iv'e got one of these moulds the only probs mine was only 5oz so I hollowed it out to gain a bit more weight.
I also drilled it to take brake out grip wires,as you said they good on mixed ground as they do flight up if you reel in fast.

I bought this mould from a tackle shop in Durham lots of years ago and I think it came out of the DCA stable.

Its very old, might be as old as Lingking almost.

I found it was great for lobbing from a pier or into hard ground short casting, but the downside when winding up a power cast it used to wobble as you swing the sinker out to sea......I put it down to flights catching the air when swinging side on.....if you know what I mean.

Yes Dunk, could be worth a bit mate.heh heh heh.....100yrs old that coddys got some cheek !!!!!!!
