Hi again lads. Got myself a cheap reel and some rigs sorted so looks like I'm pretty much ready to give it a go. Thinking about heading out one day over the weekend not sure which yet, but the weather forecast is looking pretty bad. Just wondering how much that affects the fishing, or oes it not make any difference? Will probs be on the river either at the glass centre or panns bank

    Cheers

Thanks toonboy. I have some mackerel at home and was going to use strips as bait. Is this ok for in the river or more best for pier? Also have some mussel but it's frozen, is it any good or only good to use fresh?

Quick update. Decided to head out early this morning and because of the heavy rain it would be a good idea to try panns bank/under bridge so I could retreat to the comfort of the car when it got too heavy. Got down for 07.30 and first cast pulled up a very small coaly. About half an hour later same again and another small one later with plenty of crabs in between. I was using mackerel strips for bait. Not the biggest of fish but considering it was my first time out I was pretty pleased with that and more importantly really enjoyed it. Stayed out 4 hours before the rain got the better of me.

Can't wait for the next session

Went out for a couple of hours yesterday at high tide. Fished the same spot at panns bank and got decent size whitey so was well chuffed
Only thing is I keep losing gear on snags there
