Rocketman is spot on mate the Ron Thompson axcellerator is a cracking rod will pull cod out the kelp with no problem and for the price it can't be beat.

As rocketman says a lot of people love the rt axx and they are very cheap... Onpy other rod i would reccommend at similar price is Imax equation 4-8oz... Its a really nice rod, very stiff ideal for the rough.

Another one ive heard a few people say about recently is the leeda icon.... They are very good for money apparently

Other than that go for second hand rod

I use a ttr for the rough it's a nice strong rod but if your new to sea fishing you might want to spend abit less money to see if you really like it.

Cheers codfather but Ive spent to much already, I'm hooked line sinker and all, I love it, only hobby I have now apart from odd boxing sesh, but bought all of my stuff second hand so done ok, just joined ssac today so I'm committed, as big phill told me all the gear is to catch the angler not the fish haha

Not sure about the rods you have... Depends how rough your talking about... If you want a rod capable of winching a decent codling up the side of shields pier in the winter then i would go for ttr, wr300 or kompressor ss out of the century... The kompressor ss would probably be the one to go for if you dont want to spend too much cash... Keep a lookout for second hand and remember that even if a few eyes are broken etc it may still be worth it after a rebuild

For 80 the mk3 apollo will not let you down!! Very good rods

I wouldnt have the kompressor sport down as a rough groud rod.. Too soft for my liking... But then again i like a very stiff rod for the rough, others dont. All personal preference
