  • float fishing

I've just had a couple of hours on Roker pier float fishing. I enjoyed it I have'nt float fished for years. I only coat a small coalie but had a few bites and a couple of follows when reeling in slow.
Does anybody know of any good float fishing spots for pollock or or other species, bearing in mind you can't cast far with a float?????? sunderland area or will travel for good mark.

I was fishing just up from the barrier on the sea side. Got all my fish on rag. Nowt on mackie. I did get a small codling about a pound on one of my new bait bangers on the bottom . ( 70 yards out ). But that was it. Did you try next to the big rock. It's been fishing well there lately on the float with rag worm. Pollock up to 6lb.

I'm not sure where big rock is I only tried opposite last steps from sea end, I was told it had been fishing well on float, but I ran out of bait. I'm definately going to try again it was good fun, your busy all the time watching float, casting, I could do with some polarised glasses though my eyes ache now. I was there about 12.00 until 14.00 hrs. Is float fishing off old jeetie in harbour any good its bass and pollock I'm after?

No mate not that good. If you want bass try the cat and dog steps . You do get them there but not very big.(biggest about 2lb). If you float fish round the big rock with rag you will get pollock and wrass. If you look down the pier wall just before the second steps you will see a big flat rock ( sea side ) fish there that's the best place.
