  • good rod for penn 525

Hi, can any one recommend a good 14/16ft beachcaster for a penn 525, a flexible rod with good casting distances.

What ground are you using it in, what leads are you planning on throwing, lastly what price range are you looking at? Will give the lads some ideas of rods to recommend.
    Cheers davey

i use century g5 supa sport with 525 super mag, go's together well, but i wouldnt say its a flexible rod, quite stiff, i normaly use 5oz leads fishing mixed ground, so its a allrounder really, iam still learning with casting but getting good distance atm, i picked up my rod second hand with a slosh30 for 80quid, hope that helps in someway....
You Hurd the man tubs...get undressed !

If you wanting a flexible rod 14ft to 16ft your looking at something like a carbon metal express or blackbird but these are clear ground rods really the Express will cope with a little bit mixed ground. My money would be on something like kompressor, kompressor ss or carbon metal crest at 13ft 10inches popular rods for our coast and can pick very good condition ones around the £150 mark.

Century Carbom metal express.. Great all rounder will cope with some rough groud work.. Capable of good distance without breaking your back

sonic sk4 16ft 4-6oz, I have one and never looked back, super easy casting, lovely to use with even down to 3oz with a fixed spool, but i use my 525mag on it mostly. Easy easting 2hook rigs with a 5oz a long way. The bite detection is spot on too, and have a bit power in reserve if you get a bigger fish. Last summer, i reeled 2 codling up the wall of s/shields pier, one 4lb and another 1.5lb... on the same rig. It handled it no problem.

Great off the beaches too with a little sea running, stick it high up and avoid the rollers knocking it. Gets my shout through personal experience.

What about an orion or apollo, I fish with a couple of guys that use them with 525's and they seem canny rods.
