get yourself to your local hotel and ask for a few Bulk Brew Coffee filters, buy a cheap plastic colinder/large sieve - then after you have given your crab their Daily or every other day drink pass your cloudy water through the filter - it comes through Clear as gin - i have been doing this for years now and never had a jot of bother with this method , i always have the pump running on at least 15 lts of sea water at any one time, just to bring on as many as i can - hope this helps - been using the same 30 ltrs of sea water that i got 3 weeks ago and it has gett\'in 98 out of their backs no problem at all - just the rest to get frozen now and the clocks to go back and hopefully were laughing

you could also buy a salinity meter this will tell you what level the salt water will be at eg. 1.023 SG (specific gravity) etc depends where you live and what countrry.
They are cheap to buy and it ensures that the water that you are using is of the same quaility, what usually happens is the water evaporates leaving a higher salt content. this can cause bad affects to living baits. (crab worm etc)
you can pick them up on-line or from a aquarium shop that sells marine fish....

Dont know if it would work for crabs and worms, but i make all my own salt water for my marine tropicals. i make it up in 25ltr containers and it lasts for weeks. The salinity meter cost me less than a tenner and as john says them and the salt packs can be picked up at any aquarium shop. I get mine from felling aquatics. As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible,
but P*****g everyone off is a piece of cake.

i suppose making your own would work ,a pal of mine had a sal****er tank in his garage and kept eels etc in it for the kids but he had to top it up now and then with collected water ,nothing to do with SG but it was the lack of nutrients in the water and the build up of waste ,if you could filter, rotate the water to simulate the tides id say it would last a while but stagnant im not so surecheers Bri
