I fancy myself a new zziplex rod in the sort of range i class the century komp ss. I basically use my wr300 for the rough and komp ss for everything else. which zzipy do u lads recomend sort of an all rounder but not too soft?

Primo Synchro is probably nearest to the SS the Dymic LT Bullet, 427 Hiflex are neare to the WR300,TTR

Oh dear. I see the NE fetish for super stiff rods is alive and kicking on this thread. I mean seriously - Dymic LT Bullet, HST Evo and really taking the biscuit the M427SU all rounders? Really?

All these rods are at the stiff end of the Zziplex range and would never in a million years be classed as an all rounder. M427 hiflex is pushing it and, funnily enough, the modern version of the Primo Synchro is probably a little bit soft in the mid-section for what the OP wants (though I love mine and use it on Seaham north no worries).

True all rounders in the Zziplex range that will do a job everywhere except kelp hauling (IMHO): I'd start with the bog standard HST, big brother to the Primo Synchro and a joy to fish and cast with (I've watched Gary Dickerson hit well over 280 yards with the HST on the field). If you want something a bit stiffer then look at the M4 Evo, another 300 yard rod but with a bit of feel and again a joy to cast (though mine only comes out for heavier ground, I use the Synchro and M4 GT for most of my fishing). Personally I love my Primo Synchro, a proper wind-up rod that will put a lead miles but has loads of feel and is, first and foremost, a fishing rod. However as noted it may be a bit soft in the mid-section if you are used to super stiff rods. M4 GT is another good option - basically an M4 Evo with a glass tip and again a rod that is a joy to cast and fish with but the tip can tend to fold if fishing in very strong tides.

I've fished with the Dymic LT Bullet and while I liked it it is in no way an allrouder - it is a 175g plus bait rod that needs a good technique to cast well and is pretty much on the stiff side. I've cast the HST Evo and again whilst it is a slight step down from the LT Bullet I'd never class it as an allrounder.

Mind you when looking at Zziplex the best advice is always (if possible) try before you buy; they tend to be very individual rods. That said they hold their 2nd hand value so if you don't like one you will normally get back what you paid if you bought it 2nd hand.

Both rough ground rods indeed.
I think what Stu is saying is that they are, very rough…at the extreme end of rough and therefore wouldn’t attach the “all-rounder” tag.

Personally, I think theres an awful lot of anglers who go way OTT with high end super stiff rods for situations where it’s not required. Although as Stu also said, the rods will retain most of, if not all of their value and so a mistake might not be too costly

Unfair Rant Stu!....I think all the offerings were reasonable responses the lads actual question !
I am no expert, but I don't see the SS, or Wr300, in the clean beach / scratching category ? They are both heavy rods ....I would use other rods for other situations....I would still put the SU somewhere between the two though ! A lot comes down to personal preference....I like my SU for General fishing up the NE coast, Lt Bullet only comes out on the rough, or big bait situations.

Take a look at the mbr. I've just getting one stiff ish tip similar to hSt but softie butt. Its designed for braid but is also at home with nylon. Similar in many ways to an ss. I've hoed loads of zzippys and century full pendulum and these are very very very good. I'd go as far as too say best rod ever. Struggles a bit with 7oz plus but will do it but not designed for that. Lead rockets away with 6oz. Like a slim light xtr with attitude.
