looking to head further north to fish the heavy ground with bait, never really fished these areas so any advice on where to park and fish would be great.is it all low water marks?.any other marks good for the red cod

I normally fish the big skeer in front of the castle mate. Park in craster before the harbour and walk up to the castle. Bear in mind its a hell of a walk so travel as light as possible but with plenty sinkers as its a tackle graveyard. Rotten bottom rigs a must. Crab is a must aswell. Its heavy ground but the rewards can be great on its day a flat sea is better ive found on this mark. Hope this helps .
Nothing makes a fish bigger than ALMOST being caught

Fish north side of the harbour straight down from the last house casting towards the south end of the island, best on the ebb 2 3/4 to 3 hours to low first 1 1/2 of the flood on a medium to big tide, its the same all the way up to the castle fishing into heavy kelp.

Seahouses behind the south pier the skeers at beadell and newton are more or less the same

Its best when sea is flat and the water crystal clear the best bait is crab
