drawback pain in backside for baiting up with worm and find shorter hook traces paternoster
      worked best with them.

I don't use a lot of pennel rigs but I find circle hooks make a very good pennel hook - I've had quite a few fish nailed in the scissors on them when the main hook has been hanging outside the fishes mouth. I've used them for scratching as well & they're good with small crab or fish baits, but a pain to thread with worm. A baiting needle certainly helps but it's still a bit fiddly.

aye a baiting needle is fiddle due to angle of the hook. i use a home made baitloader when i bait up with worms on a circle hook. its like a baiting needle but not? breakaway makes proper baitloaders i think , its a doddle to use.

I used Tronix size 7 in Norway. Made my own two hook flappers. Hookes were fine i caught my 11 lb r on them. The same hook also caught a 2lb flattie. They are supposed to lip hook but they still get took a long way down. Circle hooks are used on long lines for Tuna-seen them on telly. Much beiiger than 7-0 though.
ps i am also taking some on my next visit. Hooks are better for self hook ups rather than a strike.
              Mick.
