  • tay sport muck boots?

I'm after a good pair of wellies for the winter and like the look of the Tay sport.
But, some reviews say they are very slippery on wet concrete or rocks!
Have any of you had the same experience with these boots? Id hate to buy them and find they are no good as they not cheap!
    Stay safe!
    Enjoy your fishing!
    Take your rubbish home!

agree with this,I bought a pair for shooting last winter and also for the beach,i found a little heavy than normal wellies but very warm and comfy, the soles are self cleaning but that doesn't help when on the rocks.

I recently bought some muck boots. I looked at the Tay boots and yes they are warm but the soles have a very open pattern designed for walking through squishy mud not for wet concrete etc. If you are mainly fishing the beach or from piers/concrete surfaces etc you do not need a pair designed for the mud and would be better off with the Esk or Derwent versions than the Tay as their soles will grip better. I have the Derwent and they are great for general sea fishing use and I would recommend them. The Esk are the same but with heavier duty soles and an airmesh lining.

If you want to go rock fishing though forget muck boots and get some rockhoppers. Muck boots will slide off wet slimy rocks like most other boots do but Rockhoppers grip on with their metal studs.

Went to Norway in March with a mate. He wore TF Rockhoppers. I wore Muck boots. I spent half my time picking him up off his ass from the slippery rock. Muck boots were ok but there will be better on the market.

Snowbee mate, the ones with the metal spikes that grab hold of the rocks.

I like the look of the snowbee rockhoppers, and will have a look at them! You can apparently get a muck boot called Nevis sport, which is the same spec as the Tay sport only with a grippier sole!

The Tay Sport boots are lovely and warm and really well made.
After a trip to Dunstanburgh Castle last winter,I won't be wearing them for any rock hopping again, like walking on glass. Not reccomended unless ya keen on a swim!
