Are they not illegal for us to keep? If so be careful down there as the EA are often there for the pot and lobster men but can check buckets

they wan`t 2 get down the pier, and check some people`s bag`s, the size of some fish being kept is discusting, flattie`s and coalie`s which are no good for nowt.
and when you tell them, all of a sudden they can`t understand english.
end of small rant, am away fishing......!

Last year I had a walk along Whitby North pier after a few mackeral. There was a bloke bait fishing on the end and had been there all night. He had maybe a dozen or so 6" coalies just rotting in a bucket at his feet. This was the height of summer with loads of tourists.

You are allowed 10 velvets per day and there is also a legal size for them which is 65mm.
Its not the EA that looks after such things it IFCA.

                Legislation and Byelaws

I wouldn,t bother with them for bait, never done owt with them and a lot of lads i know say the same.

I would rather go to the wet fish shop and buy a few edibles for cart.
