bought a reel last yr december last yr from fleabay . took it out summer fishing on roker pier and the clutch gave way. didnt think that a highly recommended reel would perish so soon. wrote to them who promtply replied to say its out of warranty . i never knew it had one anyway . anyone else had issues like this from fleabay ? it is a uk dealer as well

Winter 2011,? it should of had a 12 month warranty mate, they can't just fob you off like that. You could try the manufacturer if you have proof of purchase, however you shouldn't really have to the buck stops with the seller.

Hey Pete,

The sales of goods act doesn't actually mention the length of a warranty. Some shops have a 6 month warranty and some have 10 years.

You should have a 12 month Guarantee with the manufacture but due to it being a eBay seller there's a possibility they were bought off the manufacture as a personal buy rather than a registered business which makes the Guarantee from the date of the sellers purchase.

Ignoring what I just said for a minute. Even though a manufacture isn't obligated by law to help you with your broken product most manufactures will give you there guarantee with proof of purchase.

Best thing you can do is contact the manufacture ASAP and talk to there customer service. Don't mention where you bought it or how long you have had it unless asked.

If you wish to take action against the seller then contact eBay and the Seller and ask if they're a registered business.

Check the sellers shop for there policy and hold them too it. If they say the policy has changed then who cares? Policies that are changed by the seller include all past sales. so if they offered no warranty 6 months ago but now offer a 7 your still entitled to it.

i no what what cod catchter means, bought a abu 7000ict lasted 4 outings now buggered, it wont reel in under stress,ahything over 6 ozs it hesitates big time.
