Shock leader on a level wind is asking for trouble with the knot (better buy plenty line)

Tapered leader, should have no bother.

sevens are not big casting reels - so good quality 35lb line and smoothness will get you there

With a reel that size it will hold plenty of 30-35lb line

as long as your not going ya ends with a full pendulum then you should be safe enough

just remember not to start swinging the lead about all over... it wont help you anyway

I use 35lb straight through for all my sea fishing beach & rocks and never had any problems, did away with shock leaders a long time ago.

Dinsley, as already mentioned a few times, dont use a shockleader with the level wind on an Abu 7000. 35lb straight through will do for almost anything you will come across in the north east. As long as your just putting a lead out with an overhead thumb type cast then it will be plenty strong enough. The leader knots catch in the level wind, even a tapered leader catches a bit. 35lb will be fine although a pain in the backside to snap if you get snagged up! lol

i agree with juilio, av got one and tried shock leaders ony to be overrun at times, i would go with ya straight 30lb line as your aware whats going on around you.a must say my abu seven is over 20 yrs old,and wil stand against any modern reel tight lines colin
