fish id please

i had a walk past steetley today and took a few pics and washed up on the beach was this silver type fish with a big mouth and a black dot on its side i was wonderng if any one new what it was (i will post pics tomorow on this thread when i find my lead)i also came across a member of this site while he was castng (beach boy) and i must say what a nice bloke easy to talk to and let me have a few casts with his 7ht mag really apprecated mate good luck with the casting hope to meet again on the beach some time

jonny m8, just with the lad sayin the black spot, had shad before, and don`t remember the spot.
and yes a returned all shads.

Just a guess for fun. Once we see the pic we will have a better idea.

If you google shad some do have a black spot or spots. Must admit the first time I saw one caught I thought it was a herring
