  • River Wear Advice Please

    Hi Lads
At long last I am going to have a go in our works car park which is right opposite the Stadium of Light. Been thinking about it for ages but the tide is spot on for a couple of hours after work tomorrow night.
Was planning to fish last hour up and first hour down with 2 hook rigs and ragworm, maybe a bit of frozen peeler if I can get some tomorrow at the tackle shop in Hendon. Planning to chuck straight down the middle in the flow with 2 rods.

Do those tactics make sense and do you think I have any chance of a few pulls ? never see anyone fishing opposite so I have no idea what species (if any) could be there.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Its the Liebherr car park mate, runs right along there. I work at Liebherr so I park my car right on the rivers edge most days.

Fresh crab may well be a bit pricey, but it's what's most likely to maximise
your chances of catching something worthwhile,in the river at this time of
                year.

Alright mate, we fished just along from the glass centre near the bridge
on sunday, worm and mack were doing the biz, not a lot getting caught
on much else, drop your hook size down to a size 4 and you should get some
                  nice size flatties.

Quick catch report lads, fished an hour either side of high tide with rag, 2 rods, 2 hooks on each. Basically got crabbed out every chuck, hooks stripped and crabs coming back. One cast came back with 3 hanging on! We managed one little flounder and one small coalie in among them. Is there always so many crabs ? How to avoid them ? Any advice again much appreciated.
