If I was to be constructive i would say the whippings don't need to be quite so long, they are only for holding the foot of the ring in place and extra whipping adds extra weight.
A bit of butchers tape does the job for me!

andy the whippings are that long as he was keeping them the same as the manufacturers 1,s as for extra weight this has got to be minuscule i,m sure this wouldn't get you any extra yards on your cast if even inches next time i see danny i,ll ask him see what he thinks lolRodbuilding & rod repairs

Extra weight ! Were talking a few grams which doesn't mean squat. To me it looks a grand job and daddy better look out lol. You've tought him well which is something to be proud of.Regards Nicky.

And it does help add distance , how much noboby knows but every little helps, thats why nearly all the top tourney casters use lightly built rods with taped on minima rings. The rods are lighter, recover quicker and dont have as much tip wobble. It helps reduce crackoffs.
Dont forget manufacturers want to sell rods so they have to look nice in the rod rack!
Whipped rings are definitely more durable, but tape does the job but doesn't look pretty!

thanks topbanna he is very hands on and quick to learn he used to practice on a old broken rod i had with the spare threads what i had left i,ll have to watch him carefully with the high build as andy says take abit of trial and error and is to exspensive to waste but i,m sure he,ll do a good job under my guidanceRodbuilding & rod repairs

your dead right about crack offs and recovery totally agree if you can video some1 and show in slow motion you can see how the rod recovers fast or slow and i remember reading a report with philtherod saying the same thing about the crackoffs and he uses single leg guides on the tip to aid recovery or something like that he said and lots of people think it is always the leader knot catching but not all the timeRodbuilding & rod repairs
