  • which hardy??

    hi all!
ive got a vintage hardy 12ft 3inch beachcaster and was wondering what model
it is as it only has makers badge!
fitted with daiwa eyes(i think!) and a white tip possibly put on by previous owner!
supposed to have cost £400 when new aswell
lovely rod still cant even feel a 5oz lead on it
    any ideas??

Looks like you have a 1970`s Hardy`s Longbow. The white tip and the rings are not original though. I sold an original, as new, with reciept (£27.99 when new) unmolested one on Ebay last year for £50. They are only a collectors item now Im afraid, as they arent much good compared to modern rods.
If its not broke, fix it until it is!

seems like a good rod to me feels solid without a hint of tippy to it at all will only be taking it down the tyne not shark fishing with it lol!
im my opinion its lasted a darn sight better than some newer rods i can think of and it weighs about the same as a modern rod aswell all in all nowt wrong with it
thanks for the info mind mate

The way your describing it, I think its a Hardy Tourney fibalite 6/9oz mk3 the mk2 was 11ft 9ins.

I am thinking it is the Tourney as well, one of my mates have one and if I remember correctly it looks very similar.

                    Graham.

ive just measured again and its 12ft 7inches (what a nacker i am)
it certainly feels like it could hoye 9ozs like! had a 5oz on
it 2day with my multi in the garden and if you had your eyes closed you wouldnt even know the weight was on!! it might be old but its not dead yet!!
was told its around 25yrs old?? would that fit into a mk3 timeline??

just been on mullocks auction site and the have got a tourney mk2 fibalite 2/4oz and a longbow!
my rod is very similar to the mk2 tourney but instead of the fuji clippy reel seat
mine has a similar real seat to the longbow which is a metal screw seat but thats where the similarity ends for the longbow! i think were heading into
the direction of the tourney mk3 i think!!
