  • Safety Gear.

A while ago, I posted an idea for a safety line, easily packed, and carried. that I thought I would carry at all times when fishing. I dint get round to making it. Wish I had, after the Portugal incident, but that is past now, spilt milk etc. Also after an incident at rocky island a few years back I decided never to fish again till id bought a flotation suit, that I did.
now, I am having myself a lifejacket, especially for the likes of the Mull, and tynemouth pier, rocks etc. Some may think its OTT but, take it from me, thats a cruel sea, she isnt your friend, she doesnt give a toss who you are.
    Safety is number one.
If anyone wants details of how to make a safety line, email me, its easy. \\ill post a pic shortly.

As Jonny says \"it ain\'t over the top.....\"
Your own safety\'s gotta come 1st.

A slightly different situation, but one in which I was accused of being OTT, safety - wise:

A few months ago, I had to get up to the top of Shields Town Hall clocktower (well not THE top....but above the clock, where the bells are), to take some photographs. I\'ve been up there before and knew there\'s a long ladder you need to climb. About 3 quarters of the way up this ladder, you go past the clock mechanism and there\'s a steel bar passes accross the ladder. Remembering this (and the fact that it\'s dark in there and you can\'t SEE the steel bar, I put a hard hat on.
This ceated some amusement to the lad who was going up with me.....\"it\'s just a ladder\" he said.
Well needless to say......guess who had a very sore heed for the rest of the day......lol........I was at the top next to the bells whenn I head the cry of pain.

OK......nowt to do with fishin\' a dangerous rock mark......but it just shows how an innocent / safe-looking place can hold some nasty surprises.
