I'm sure that you'll manage with your rods but they would not be my choice, the spodding rods are very through actioned the ones I've tried are awfull.
I much prefer light shore rods and bass rods that tend to have more action in the tip and stiffer butts. These even sit better in the rest and, in my opinion, are nicer to use.
This of course is only my opinion.
One thing I'm more than certain of though is the exagerated claims made by the carp lads, they are a long way out with the distances they claim.
They should get onto the casting court insread of guessing overhead thumps over water.
