I only use Braid For light lure fishing using a fixed spool reel, I always use an Albright knot or a double Albright Knot which is even stronger.

I also always use a mono backing line as to not waste expensive Braid, attach a mono backing line to the Braid using the same Albright knot.

It's also wise to use a short mono / fluorocarbon rubbing leader (2-3ft only). If you go any longer than this you run the risk of the knot tangling with the braid around the eyes of the rod when casting and basically you'll get a horrendous knot in the line.

The purpose of the leader is to protect the Braid from Knicks from hooks during casting and rocks while retrieving. Using a longer leader also takes all the 'feel' away when fishing with Braid, for maximum feel or nibble detection go without the leader.

This works for me anyways, hope this helps.

I use two grinner knots, twice as many turns in the braid than mono. E.g. if you do a 4 turn grinner with the mono around the braid, do 8 turns in the braid around the mono and snug them up. Never had a problem with this.

Used to use grinner knots but now use a knot called 'slim beauty'. Never had one fail at all.
