  • treble hooks for flounder???

fishing near port carlisle on saturday.

we fished at the bend in the road, going slightly right as we reached the shore line.

the tide was low when we arrived, when going back up and down the beach to cast and reel in i came accross a lost rig that had been snagged on a small branch.

it was a 3oz grip lead with green rollers. american snap swivels were used as connectors.

the hook was a small ..... treble!!!

if this was used for a pleasure session it would have been a right pain to get out a small flounders mouth causing loads of damage and probably killing the fish.

i could understand someone fishing a match and not wanting a single fish to get away at any cost, but... most matches are 2 hooks and a treble would be classed as 3 hooks.

has anyone here been using trebles for flounders?

anyway it lashed down all day and the fishing could have been better.

Flatfish have the uncanny ability to swallow almost any size hook so anyone using trebles for them needs a good kick in the pants IMHO

Nothing you can say Bill, they should have the treble pushed up there back end and see how they like to remove it ..... only other thing i can think they were after were the Sea Trout that run along there

Just a thought like, I wonder if the idea was that it might stop the hook being swallowed with the bulkiness of it. Before you lay into me I think that if this is not the case and would not work then it's bad crack and agree with yer replies
