Don't do what I did. £10 quid rod here, £45 quid on there. I've got 6 "cheap" rods which must of cost me around £150. Made a point of buying a high end one this time so now i have 7 rods.. but only use 1
Species: Cod, Bass, Coalie, Flounder, Dab, Rockling, Mackerel, Plaice, Pollock, Ballen Wrasse, L/S Scorpion, Common Blenny, Weaver (unfortunately), Whiting, Common Eel, Trout, Pike... think that's it

Being a "retiree" I do spend a lot of time spinning/lure fishing for bass over in Luce Bay. I used to favour the Greys 10 foot spinning rod and could not fault it.

Last year I tested out a Sonik SK3 2.75 lbs 12 foot carp rod for the whole of the season lure fishing for bass over on the MOG and found it a step up from the Greys.

        SONIK SK3 12ft 2.75lbs CARP ROD: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors

I find it very light and can cast with it all day long and I find it very powerful, far outcasting my Greys rod. The extra length comes in very handy at times when trying to bring in bass through weed/rocks as it gives you that bit extra control.

This is a picture of a bass I caught on it last summer over in Luce Bay.

        Hope this helps

        John
