  • A bit of fixed reel advice please

Lynn and I do some shore fishing and while I have a beach caster and multiplier, Lynn uses a 9ft rod and fixed spool reel for mackerel spinning, but also having a shot at bait fishing too. I also have a spinning rod and fixed spool reel.

Both reels were cheap and the bail arms are wearing out. We would like to replace them with better quality reels, but not sure what to buy. We don't want to spend a fortune, probably buy second hand. Lynn's would probably need to be sturdier than mine, as it is for more than just spinning.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
2016 - Cod, Dab, Dogfish, Gurnard, Ling, Mackerel, Saithe, Scorpian fish. .

A mate recently bought a Shakespeare Salt Surf fixed spool reel.

    £39.99 with free braid.

I've not seen it yet but he seems very pleased with it.

Have a look on tacklebargains.co.uk where you can often get massive discounts, sometimes due to damaged packaging.

just take the bail arm off mate, you dont need them, just lift the line in and out of the roller.
