have had them 4lb stamp, there is bigger about though , pulley rigs i have used also, crab baits used on the holderderness coast and there doesnt need to be much of a surf on
Caught most of my bass on ragworm !
Just ordered a spinning rod for plugging fancied it for a while just never bothered getting round 2 it all in hand now !
Loads of effort for little reward
But still love it
Fish baits work well for bass. Big baits for the bigger fish - half a mackeral etc This is on the south coast mind so it may not work so well in the north east. Specialised bass lures are probably the best I caught one two weeks ago on a Maria shallow diver off Chesil Beach. Mind you nothing else seems to like these lures so if there are no bass around you will blank. Hope this helps.
Caught a couple whilst on holiday last year on the IOW in Bembridge Bay. Light spinning rod, bubble float and a Silverish 3" Eddystone eel on a 3' trace.Bass go crackers when hooked like this, excellent fighters.
as your fishing in hartlepool, the only bait you need is ragworm. we,ve tried everything including big crab or fish baits but locally nothing beats ragworm, because most of our fish are small.
you,ll still pick up any bigger ones on ragwarm.
just a 2 hook flapper, but increase your hooks to a size 1/0 as bass have bigger mouths.

will a running ledger with ragworm at the back off the surf work and is there any other rigs that will be better thanks
Round here I would have thought that would be ideal. Sandeel or a strip of mackerel would be ok as well. If bass don't take flatties/coalies etc likely to.
