Unfortunately if you want to fish the piers in the Summer you'll have to put up with a higher concentration of numpties generally ruining it for everyone else, its the same with most things!! I had a very quick crack at Blyth Pier last year when I was back in the summer, it reminded me of the Star Wars Cantina Bar so I only gave it 20 minutes!

If you can, find yourself a nice quiet little rock mark and leave the piers to the Summer professionals!!!

blyth pier is a disgrace in the summer months for litter and stinking. i take at least a carrier bag of rubbish away every time i fish it in the summer months. i do have to agree that its not just so called chavs and younguns because some of the people that creep out of the woodwork in the summer months could do with educating aswell. People that you would think should know better. Ive met plenty of very polite younguns in the summer months and ill even give the odd spinner here and there when they lose theyres if they are well behaved. On the other hand ive met plenty of idiots who aint got a hope in hell of gettin owt. Its all a matter of respect in my opinion ie be polite and dont leave rubbish. Everybody has to learn yes but personally i wont help anyone who is acting a fool and being a pig ........ simples ha ha

some of these ''charvs'' are aright is you give them the time of day before judgeing them by the hat they have on! dont get me wrong theres ones that take the p**s, and fit the ''charv'' name,

its not all charvs that disrespect the piers, ive seen loads of non 'charv' anglers, all the top price gear ect that have dropped litter allover, p**sed allover, swearing, tins, kicking fish off piers ect..

its the same everywhere you go, some people are decent and respectfull, others arnt!

get on with your fishing sesh1, if ya dont like em dont fish with them, its life there will allway be people you dont like to be around

i give everyone 1 chance if i dont like them or the way they are going on i tell them
You Hurd the man tubs...get undressed !

I'm kind of in the middle here I agree and disagree with alot of the posts, most of the scum on the piers aren't kids that's for sure. At the same time I have seen kids fishing for mackerel when they don't even know what to do with them after they have caught em, disgraceful.

The pier in Shields stinks of pi$$ constantly IMHO so why on earth the "chavs" get the blame is beyond me, some of the retards fishing in the winter are the same type as those mackerel fishing piers in summer. So summer bringing them out is B*llS**t, fact is no matter how much you, me or him dislike it they are entitled to go and do what they want as much as we are.

I go early to avoid it and go home when the lager louts with cans of beer arrive, as for saying we all have had a few beers while fishing, I have never ever had an alcoholic drink while fishing. Do you drink and drive aswell.?

Quality answer my friend I agree with you, its wrong to tar everyone with the same brush and as already said I've seen plenty of so called adults making complete tits of themselves.

Just recently I met a nice bloke who at first I thought would have been a bit of a plonker ( pulled up in a subaru impreza with a flat cap and a yellow barber jumper on ) but he turned out to be a really canny lad, lesson learnt.
                    Regards Nicky.

                      paul your right
but is does get worse in the summer rubbish ect using the place as a toilet, the pier is a place tourists likes to have walk along, they must think if these people can stand and fish here with the smell of urine and rubbish every ware ,what must there houses be like, also it seems a lot of so called anglers seem to think its ok to throw your rubbish in the water, thats why the bins are there,
as i said paul we just need to show respect for other anglers, familys out for a walk and the pier

totally agree with the 'tarring with the same brush' carry on here!!
yes theres more of the the n#b element and rubbish and smell on the piers and fishing spots around simply because its getting warmer and the fair weather anglers come out from
there winter hibernation with all the new gear and no idea but thats the minority plus i think in the winter months theres more of an elite group of anglers and everyone knows everyone so the sight of other unknown ''anglers'' in favoured spots can get peoples backs up but thats the summer for you

to be fair that description of blyth pier is equally accurate in mid november with a big s.e swell running in... i counted over 50 a while ago, 6oz leads flying all over and rubbish dumped everywhere, they must be the winter professionals eh??
that's why i don't bother with blyth pier anymore

Best thing i have found is do not fish the first few weeks of the season, it tends to get quiet later as they soon get bored and go elsewhere, some have said fish early in the day but i tried that between 6-7 am and they are still there.
