sand spike? anyone rate them?

my rod stand has seen better days, bout time i got a new one, i mainly fish beaches and was wondering if anyone uses a sand spike? pro's and cons?!

Yes tinmam m8 used them some years ago before the tripods came out and i found them ideal for sandy beach areas okay m8
