alright lads needs some help on braid i want to fill my spinning reels with braid but dont know wat lb to put on and i would like to no wat to put on my main reel over heavy kelpy ground

Wudnt mind to see few of these comments as ive just loaded my spinning reel with 20lb braid, dont know if that bit much but if lifting a heavy pollock up from rock areas or pier walls I thought id need at least that

Well Humble m8 i would use from 18 lbs to 25 lbs because you dont know what your up against when your in amongst kelp and rocky bottoms okay.

in the past iv used 20lb Rovex Air Strike but at the mo iv got 30lb power pro on as im fishing more over rocks than kelp

plus m8 dont over load your spool m8 as you will have problems with it when casting like wind knots ....

If your going anywhere up eyemouth/Stabbs/The mull its 30-40lb mate.

And Berkley Whiplash pro/Crystal is my choice. Its never let me down yet mate.

Depending on your reel, i would put backing line onto your spool, and only use about 150yards of braid at one time. Mine is a 4000 size reel, and i put backing on first, then tie the two lines together, then put half a 300yrd spool onto it. 1 spool lasts me all year

It retails around £30 for 300yards but to me its worth every penny.

for spinning with light stuff/distance i use 20lb whiplash vanish, and loved it and never had any bother. For closer in heavy float work or redgilling i use 35lb varivas supa braid and this is a little stiffer and thicker than most brands (kind of resembles fireline if anyone reading has experience with this) and again loved that and done what it has ment to. Very abrasive resistant suprisingly.

ive used berkly fireline for about 5 years with not a hint of a problem.

i use 15lb for light spinning and 20lb for heavier work.

i even use it on a 5500 in 15lb and a 35lb leader for estury work.

use a mono backing first and tape over the joining knot before you start to load the braid. keep the braid about 4mm down from the spool lip.

watch for side winds when fishing as i discovered myself when fishing dunstanburgh after telling my mates watch how far this gans had about 60 yards of braid full of knots
