  • Holderness coast.

looking to fish holderness coast in couple of weeks and was just looking for a bit of info please as i have never fished this area before.

what species can i hope to catch?

best baits i have a load of peeler crab but anything else work well down there.

any decent marks to fish and what time of tides are best?

does there have to be a sea running or flat.

like i say i have never fished that area before so any info would be good.

heading over to silloth this weekend then holderness weekend after keeping busy until warms up a bit and can hit eyemouth etc.
Species 2012 - Cod, Flounder, Dab, Plaice, Pollock, Eelpout, Common eel, Granny Fish, Whiting, Coalie, LSD, Rockling, Bass.

starrysmoothhounds ,common smoothounds, bass ,thornback rays dogfish flounders, odd codling , best baits is crab but ya dont need big baits for the hounds ,long pulley rigs 2-3/0 they will take lug baits too ..the flatter the better and a normal size tide as the big tides tend to just pull ya up the beach if any weed about .. try get a look at the beach at low tide and check out the sand bars and holes this will give ya better advantage knowing where to cast has the fish feed in them when the tide floods ...short cast or long cast will put you onto fish ..but you will find ya have to put some hours in on the beach as they there one minute gone the next ..lot lads have failed traveling down there without success ..never 2 days a like so lets hope you hit it right

I would check out the holderness website mate, great pictures and directions for most marks from spurn upwards. Also guides on rigs etc and bait. Crab is ideal as is lug and prawn. Lots of weed about at the moment but hopefully be better when you fish. Might be there myself if conditions improve.
