  • Heugh - Hartlepool

Afternoon lads, i've had my fishing rod a while but never got round to going out so i thought today i'd have a look about. Went to the Friarage for my bait and got out for a couple of hours over lunchtime...first time i've ever properly gone out fishing from the shore and i bagged myself a nice 3lb codling, a few other nibbles but nothing else. Quite pleased with that though and it's given me enthusiasm to get out again in the near future. I got a picture but need to find the cable for my phone, codling went back to be caught another day.

I fished the rocks on the sea side of the breakwater using mackeral just as the tide was going out.
Usually found on Crimdon beach with two Springers!!

Cheer lads, i didn't even know i had a fish on till it was on the rocks infront of me! The sea was rough and kept giving me false hope, had a few people come down asking if i'd got anything and while a bloke and his grandson were there i brought the cod in. Good for the young lad to see anyway. I fished the pilot for about an hour and had nothing, moved across to the breakwater about 1pm and struck in about half an hour. Well pleased.

I thought about keeping it but it was in brilliant nick and with it being my first shore fish it went back to live another day. Next one will be in the pot though

Thanks for the welcomes, hope to see some of you kicking about!
