I remember, (god knows how many years ago,) when I was 1st getting into climbing (must\'ve been about 14 at the time), I bought a book called \"Knots,Ties and Splices\".
I know it sounds a bit sad for a 14 year old to be absolutley fascinated by the intricate \"structures\" fashioned from ropes, but some of them were incredible creations; way beyoned my capabilities (still are !)
As far as the climbing rope knots I was after learning goes, the book was completely useless.....lol
Glad I bought it, though and I\'ve still got it.
I wonder if seamen still make those intricate \"rope sculptures\" or if it is an art that is no longer needed in todays hi-tech world.Comment
