  • Easy marks ?

I've been in hospital most of today being poked and prodded and I'm cheesed off and uncomfortable.

Anyone got any suggestions for easy marks in the north tyneside area for a couple of hours tonight or during tomorrow ?

I was thinking the little stone jetty at Seaton Sluice (probably won't fish given the sea that's currently running, and given that it's going out) or perhaps the little bay where the car park is just before the fish quay at North Shields.

    Anyone ?

Not looking for fish - just looking for fishing, although I wouldn't object if the two could somehow contrive to come together...

    barry,

the beach next to fish quay is the middens m8, fishes best over low water, probs worth a go not sure on tides times fo when you will be going but worth a shot, does chuck up the usual suspects in terms of species plus you can park in car park right next to it so only a short walk from your car. if yu get a fish be a bonus. plus there should be a decent swell rolling in judging by the seas i seen today and the ones that are forecast for later in the week.

      - Fish Quay
      - Royal Quays
      - Copthorne
      - Ice House
      - Middens
      - Peeping Toms (river Blyth)

Just a small list of comfy and quite marks for to fish on the northside. Some not the best marks, but a least they give simple and easy fishing, with the fair chance of a few fishies biting too.

      Hope these help.

Fish in the Tyne somewhere from the back of your car, there is plenty of small codling, whiting, coley's and flat fish. I have fished on the south side on my last two outing over the weekend and had plenty of sport.

        regards Rushy

          Walker riverside park
          St Peter's basin
Wansbeck at Cambois - little stone jetty look for "The Bucca" on google maps

Middins beach is best fished over high water, that's unless you want to fish in just 1ft of water!

i have always been told to fish it at low as the tide ebbs right out on big spring tides and can walk a fair distance onto beach where as it is normally under water. with a decent cast can put you into a good amount of water was told to fish alst off ebb and first of the flood.

i am talking about the beach next to the rocks at right hand side where all of mussel beds are that little part there.

                        Nope

Had to go back into hospital yesterday, briefly, then back into work today, followed by a run down to Dustybin's for a hundred quid's worth of leads earlier this evening. Should keep me out of mischief for a month or three...

I've just snaffled my tea and my daughter's asleep in bed (what it must be like to be 5 again ). Her mother is watching some nonsense or other on the box, and I just happen to have filleted a fresh mackerel for bait. Shame to waste it, especially given the rag I have in the fridge as well...

Going to get the rods out in a few minutes and fish the start of the flood. Either middle toilets beach at Seaton Sluice if I feel u p to it (I'll look over the dunes first to check what the sea is doing, or Royal Quays Marina if I wimp out of the beach.

Let's see: loads of leads, some rag and some mackerel equals ... let me see ... about three rods for three hours or so, by my reckoning

Details later or tomorrow morning, depending on how pooped I am when I get in.

Fished the middens in the end.

I'll have to go back to Royal Quays in the daylight and figure out a way to get to the water's edge !

                          It's all fenced off !

Loads of bits from small stuff, brought a small coalie and three codling in, biggest maybe 11 inches or so.

There was loads of crap being swept up the river as the tide flooded in. My lines kept getting swept upriver, even using grippers - the tide wasn't a strong run but I was pulling a lot of weed in so there must be loads of crap that the recent heavy seas have stirred up floating around.

Might try again this evening or tomorrow, once things have settled down a little.

Hope anyone else venturing out has better luck
