  • Spinning for makerel at north shields fish quay

    Hello there!
    im knew to this forum so im just wondering if makerel spinning is anygood at the fish quay near the sambuccas end of the quay! ifso wots the best lures and the best time! any other good spots anybody else knows would be most helpful! feathering or spinning wots the best??

    they do venture up that area when they are right in/peak season.

    I would fish the flood, and just regular 45-60g silver spinners are hard to beat for mackerel, sport and success.

      cheers mate so whens the peak season? was thinking of trying my luck next week or is that too early?? am new too this spinning lark haha!

        Too early for mackeral mate but you might get the odd coley if you are spinning now.

          I would add that its best to get on a pier for mackerel fishing, they move a bit down the tyne later on in the season July/August/September time.

            i float fish for them in the gut. idealy you want the water clear and fish the bigger tides. i have had some blinding sessions for them here but like already said its when the summer is well under way.

              Mackerel season

              Hi RL83 much too early for mackerel as you need to wait untill back end of April to the beginning of May when the weather heats up a bit okay

                  looks like i'll try and hit the coalie population of the fish quay then Dont care what i catch! spun in freshwater years and years ago never caught a sodding thing but didnt matter to me i really enjoyed it!!
                  so if you see a bloke spinning at the fish quay with a big grin on his face catching nowt that will be me

                      thats wot fishing is all about mate,i caught 3 codling all winter,i put some hours in aswell,but i loved every minute of it,that feeling that the big 1 is only a cast away is untouchable,keep smiling
