  • Info on century carbon metal express

If anyone is using or has had one of these rods I would be grateful if you could share how you rate these in terms of casting and also what fishing situations you have used the rod in and how it has coped in the wind / tide and what is your preferred casting weight.

    Cheers
    Davey

I had mine for about 2 years & only sold it so as to finance buying a zziplex.
I wish I kept it now. They are great rods for casting that don,t put your back out. They have got good bite detection & can handle all sorts of conditions except the really hard grounds.
In my opion they are one of the best all round value for money rods you will come across.
      Hope it helps.
I will only be out for a couple of hours pet.

I second that brian. They are amazing rods, dont put your back out when casting, can chuck 6oz weights a fair old way. And the bite detection on them is superb.

Absolutley love mine, they are good to clean to mixed/rough(ish) ground. The tip holds steady in breezy conditions, its not a heavy rod it feels light.

Seriously davy mate to me they are worth their weight in gold

They are quality rods Davey mate.

Had mine a few years ago before a sold it on. There are great casting rods, they. have a smooth casting action, great bite detection and the power when necessary. When i had mine, 5oz was the best casting weight, could get the lead a good way out (a was only 16 at the time )

As said they not really built for the rough stuff, but a took mine to Burrow head when a was younger and it handled fine. :thumbup

Im after another one myself, as a third rod for summer fishing and winter fishing in the river.

            Hello Davey,
I have one mate, it's one of the early ones without the trim band.

You are more than welcome to take it for a few chucks to see what you think, see if it's right for you. I also have a another tip section for it from the slightly pokier Crest.

            Regards Ian

Iv tried the standard carbon meyal and it was spot on good fot chucking 175g out and also good bite detection perfect for the summer think the express is abit softer but will be spot on for the summer. Cant beat the zippy hsm tho best summer rod iv used not the best in a strong wind tho
