    Quick question

I'm new to fishing having recently bought a day boat. Still looking to see if anyone want to tag along and show me the ropes so to speak for a free day on the boat.

Anyway....main question is what can i expect to catch from around whitley bay area, in particular St Marys lighthouse area? More interested in spinning from shore rather than cod etc which I have yne boat for. When is best to spin here? What could I target? Any help...?! Cheers

It's a bit late in the season now as the boat fishing is winding down and the beach fishing is getting started. If you turn up near the yellow can a mile off St Mary’s Island during the summer, you’ll not be short of company. What boat have you bought and where are you launching from? Get some pictures up, we're all interested.

Fishing of St Mary's can be good, with coddling the main catch and the usual mackeral in summer. Lure fishing works well once the water has cleared in spring, and fishing a bait at anchor can work during the calmer winter days.

You may get more replies posting in the boat fishing part of the forum, they're helpful lot, if a little quiet at this time of year.

Gone for the Warrior 150. Cracking boat and launching at south Shields. Had a few cod a couple of weeks back an looking to get out in a week or so when I get back from work. presume some of yne bigger cod is still sitting a little bit out of the reach of shore fishing?!

If anyone fancies a trip out drop me a pm. Cheers

Forgot to add...my original question was based on shore fishing from St Marys area because I live a few hundred yards from the beach there. New to boat fishing and never shore fished so clueless!
