  • Marsden rocks

There is a old gun turret on the hill about half a mile from the fair on the front at Shields, been told this is marsden. Can anyone tell me anything/tips on the fishing from the rocks below it at this time of the year, baits/species etc. Thanks

Thats not Marsden mate, if you carry on up the coast for a couple of miles until you see a pub on your left thats the Grotto the lift or steps take you down to the beach, the place your on about is Trow rocks, never fished there for years but i used to catch plenty of flounder and plaice.

Nope its not Marsden, its next to a small beach called Graham sands just up from the watersedge pub or mangos. Fishing from gun area is quite difficult staright out. However, either side of fishing towards shields big beach or graham sands looking towards target rock, you could expect the odd flatty, cod, whiting on the flood. In addition, if your looking for Marsden head towards the grotto car park, this is a good starting point. Fishing marsden beach is not productive at the best of times, but this time of year expect a blank or a couple of flattys and the odd cod. Look to the left when on the beach, and you will see the shape of camels island which has a couple of marks dotted around it at low water and high water. As baits go, fresh/frozen crab, worm baits tipped with bluey or mackeral. Hope this helps.

The beach in front of the Pub (mangos) can produce flatys, dabs etc,. use worm or bluey or both.
