just a thought if fishing rocky edges and quite close to the water i wud suggest taking a extending net ..why ..ive had so many pollock or other species drop off just has ya lift them .... wriggely and good fighters that they are
Anyone done any Light Rock Fishing - seems good sports, and still the possibility of pulling in good fish, just different tactices.
Thinking of buying an Okuma Octana 10 - 40g 8' 6" to tackle this with accompanying reel?
Any recommendations for locations etc etc. want to travel light.
just got the octana and trio last week, had it out once and its a impressive rod and the reel lets my RT hyperstrong braid off like a dream. Got some gear for LRF but haven't used it yet, I will be soon though! LRF will increase your species count too so its win win.
I'd recommend the Octana and trio like. I got mine from fishtec for just shy of £100. I was just looking for a reel but the offer of a £60 reel and a £80 rod for that price you can't go wrong.
Species: Cod, Bass, Coalie, Flounder, Dab, Rockling, Mackerel, Plaice, Pollock, Ballen Wrasse, L/S Scorpion, Common Blenny, Weaver (unfortunately), Whiting, Common Eel, Trout, Pike... think that's it

been out tonight (hebburn marina) got 10 fish, largest codling 28cm - fished a 7 ft fresh water abu spinning rod on 8lb mono, size 4 widemouth hook and rag worn.
Good fun - better than watching a static tip all night
