i was fishing 38-40 on Saturday and realized there are loads of pots out there, i think they went up as far as the end...

any way ive fished this same place before a few times and had very little to no loss of gear, but this time i lost gear on nearly every cast.

might sound like a dumb question but are the pots connected to each other by rope, cause i casted well out the way of the buoys but on the retrieve got snagged up, and i know its not to bad there for snags as its just kelp at the bottom ....

any help and adivce would be appreciated

yes they are connected years ago when it was proper rope and not man made fibres the rope used to stay snug on the bottum of the sea bed but with a lot of the rope with the man made fibres tends to not sink hard on the bottom and you seem to get snagged also the size of the tides if they are big you get snagged as thier is more movement the pots are a right pain at times they must get a canny weigh in lol

yes they are and a massive pain in the arse its not as much a problem over high water as the ropes should be low in water theres a lot of sea out there why they need to hug the pier for

thats exacally what i thought, when they know people fish the pier every day, could have some consideration and put them out maybe 400yrds were ppl cant cast too.

They put them close in because that's where the lobbies are mate and it'll get much worse as the summer season progresses. All you can do on them marks is try and find a gap or chuck as far as you can and crank like hell on the retrieve.

there only trying to get a catch just like the rest of us, i can understand. but its just a nightmare if were snagged up on them.

Yep, especially when you get a canny fish on and can see it flapping around and suspended in mid air
