Apparently there are pics whether i get one or not is another matter, apparently the fished weighed 24lb, but the lad who caught it does not want anything to do with records or publicity. He fishes for the pot, 24lb of pollock, cooked pollock every way i know how and it always tastes like iodine.

Could a record be submitted on the basis that the anglers name wasn\'t given out (like the lottery)? There is obviously proof and a record fish has been caught.

          British Rod Caught Record:
          Species: Pollock
          Weight:24lb
          Location: South Shields Pier
          Angler: Anonymous

          Seems reasonable!

got to disagree about the taste of pollock, fresh and cooked properly (ie not cooked to death) it\'s pretty good, can be a a close second to cod and haddock

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.

Regardless of whether the man wants any publicity or not one thing has been neglected here. Well done who ever you are, you have done something that no other angler has. The best about it is you have the photographs to prove it so no one can take it away from you.
                  Well done that man.

                  Jim.

Totally agree, Jim.........also got to admire the fact that he doesn\'t want his name to be known ............wonder if it\'s the mysterious (to some) \"A.R.\" .............LOL

Also got to agree with Mark.........I had a 6lb Pollack (I know.......it\'s positively PUNY compared to 24lb), a couple of years ago whilst fishing on Dave Masons\' previous boat \"Poacher\". It tasted bloody lovelly

Aye I\'m not keen on it either Alan. It\'s like Coalie. I tend to stick them in a fish pie with a bit of cod and a bit of smoked cod as well and you can\'t tell as much!

Never tried Pollack yet but quite like Coley. All a matter of different tastes.
