Jut pulled the trigger on a 12' 6" 2-4 oz Greys GRX-S Bass rod. It throws a 3 oz sinker towards the horizon with so little effort it's scary

Still looking for the right lure rod - I'm concerned that 10 - 40g will be too light. Deeper water spinning a jelly or frozen sandeel could easily require a couple of ounces of barrel weight to get the bait down, so I'm thinking more towards something up to perhaps the 100g range.

We'll see - for now though, the surf rod is taken care of

Sorry to resurrect this again but has anyone used the Ugly Stik spinning rods ?

I only ask because I was discussing this with my uncle yesterday and he says loads of people use them over there in Canada and they are uber popular throughout the USA as well.

I have only ever used an Ugly Stik boat rod (I think I may even still have it) and it was a great performer.

In all likelihood I'll be going for a Savage Gear Bushwhacker but if the Ugly Stik Lite rods are OK I may get one as a spare. I like the idea of a 9' 25-60g rod to throw some of the bigger lures I like to use sometimes.

Just found my single handed baitcaster and salmon rod in the loft, and ordered a Bushwhacker, so I think that's everything covered.

I also found a 9' Jarvis & Walker (Penn) 20-60g spinning rod brand new for forty quid at a local tackle shop today so that's in the car at the moment with an Abu 5500CL3 and 18lb .035 line, and it will be used in anger this afternoon at Dunstanburgh with shads or barrel weight/jelly worm
