Surf and lure rod recommendations

I'm planning for the better weather already

In years past I use Pike and Carp rods for surf fishing, but thing seem to have come on a lot in the 10 - 15 years that I've been out of sea fishing, so I'm after some recommendations.

The scenario will be throwing up to a 3oz lead using either an 6500C Ultra Cast or a 5500C Ultra Cast, and bouncing a bait either beyond or through the breakers (depending on location) for bass, and it may also double up for pollack fishing but, for now, bass surf fishing is the plan.

I used to hit quite a lot of bass at Cambois beach and further up the coast at one or two mark I know, and I have always been fond of light fishing where your complete kit can more or less fit in your pockets.

In addition, I am looking for a new lure fishing rod. Ideally it will be used with a 5000/5500 (only because I already have them) but I'm not precious about that and I don't mind buying into a fixed spool arrangement. This one will be purely for throwing lures and spinners from various rock locations, for bass, pollack and coalies.

Suggestions very much appreciated.

I have bought a Anyfish Anywhere 11ft lure and bait 60-90 grams with an Okuma vsystem v55a reel in mint condition off a member on here, getting ready for the season early cant wait to try them out.
It may be worth a post the wanted section, I paid less than half price.

i just got a shakespeare salt xt bass 11,6ft 2-4 oz lush rod dead light could hold it all day, aint fished it yet but its meant for light ledgering with 3oz but could quite happily fish float or abit of heavy spinning. its rung for fixed spool and multi but iv got a abu6500 that goes with it perfect. 50 squid including delivery online, seems spot on for what you want

Anyone ever used an 11ft 6" Penn Powerstik Pro Bass rod ?

It felt very nice in the shop but you can never really tell until you use it in anger...

I was just about to pull the trigger on a 3 - 4oz Abu Atlantic 444 12' 4" but that Greys BZe looks very appealing. Anyone know of a local stockist so that I can see one in the flesh ?

That rod above is absolutley brilliant, I have one. They are light as a feather, and perfect for most types of lure fishing, they just dont like big pollack haha

Hello,
I like my "Tip Tornado lite" very much.

I also have a "Daiwa Bass STS115" which is a great rod and very versatile. You can bottom fish with it, float fish or clip on a 3oz lead and string of feathers......a great summer rod if you like.

For spinning I like my "Bushwhacker" but sometimes find it a bit short so I have a longer "Daiwa Powermesh X".
The heavier lures that I often use are a bit too much for these rods so I bought an "Okuma Seaspin" with a bit more power....I wasn't expecting it to be anything special but I realy like it and use it the most.

If I had to take only one rod with me for float fishing, spinning, flattie bashing then I would take the "Daiwa Bass".

These are only my observations of rods that I have, there are many others which will do just as good a job. Good luck with your choice and tightlines for the coming summer.
