shame.
Imo its a shame the council can't be more lenient with anglers. Yes shut the gates to stop Joe blogs taking his wife and four for a walk along in a raging north easterly, some people need protecting from their own stupidity! Even some anglers...
Most of us anglers know when a venue is safe enough to fish, and when its time to go!
I used to fish behind the tanks at hendon a lot, and stopped fishing there altogether when the dock company started prosecuting trespassing anglers.
For me, that was my favorite mark gone forever. I've heard anglers get on again now and would be grateful if someone could pm me if that's true!
I hope this is just hot air that will blow over soom. But serves em right for making the new gate so temptingly low, and without spikes!
Stay safe, its only a fish!Stay safe!
Enjoy your fishing!
Take your rubbish home!

You are also correct that the pier IS used by menbers of the emergency services, never know i might venture on there myself sometime. These individuals need bait from somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (know where i'm comin from).
Perhaps he has a fiendly council worker or member of the emergency services whose has marked his card. IMO Andy don't need the pier to himself he seems to do well at a variety of venues.
Let's face it we all know that sooner or later somenone is gonna be made an example of with a prosecution, just for the council to send out a message. When God made time he made loads of it.
Diffrent strokes for diffrent folks

Some on here seem to think the Council close the pier just for the fun of it,and comparing it too other piers is a bit misleading,Roker is a lot lower to the water than most others with the exception of Seaham, they could not let anglers on and not the general public as once granting permission they would then be liable for any loss or injury, even someone being washed off after climbing on the pier would be a test case as they could argue that the council did not do enough to deny access, there is negotiations going on between anglers and the council regarding access to lost areas and people climbing the gates are harming this work, this is the ammunition they need to block any progress, unfortunately its a small minority that give little thought to the majority and the people trying to help them get back lost fishing areas.......Angling Trust/UKCC Level 2 Sea Angling and Coarse Fishing Coach at www.fishingnortheast.co.uk or follow us on Facebook fishingnortheast.co.uk
