ya probs reet roy never have i read an article saying dont fish south shields pier whilst the gates are locked but even tackle shop owners and top anglers still venture on there and honestly ive seen them on roker pier and followers on a monday night if closed

If any venue is closed (ie; gate locked ect ) obviously access is not permitted at that time for whatever reason, if any person then chooses to climb over/around the gates (their choice ) we all know the score prob's a fine

Not on South Shields pier mate, pier master asks if you want to stay when he closes the gate.

Thats the way it should be, close it to the public but if you want to 'risk it' then why not.

Agree completly but I bet there's a few thinking if you get washed off then the emergency services will have to deal with it.

It will be sunderland council that sent the letter in cos they will be sick of
kicking lads off that climb on and trying to frighing lads off sayin they will be
fined but it wont work if this sea comes away next week they will shut the
gate so lets see if its true cos there will be lads climbing on.

I think the gates should be put at the first set of steps that would save a lot
of chow on of the council walking up the pier kicking lads off.
