  • Waterproofs for tall fishermen

I've noticed that XL and XXL clothes refers to greater horizontal capacity, as opposed to vertical.

I am 6' 4" and almost 17 stone, and other than my old army gore-tex gear I am really struggling to find something with enough across the shoulders to allow casting, and long enough arms so that the cuffs don't end half way down my forearms

Anything with enough across the shoulders appears to have an extra foot or two of available (an unnecessary) girth, but I've yet to find anything with the right arm length or that doesn't feel a litte short in the body.

Anyone got any suggestions for the taller angler ?

Attempts to shrink myself in the wash have, thus far, remained unsuccessful...

I tried a couple of different waterproof smocks on at Sports & Leisure in Blyth this afternoon.

The XL's were all very short on the sleeves and the XXL's were vast around the middle, but still fell a little short in the sleeve.

Perhaps I'm a strange shape. Or perhaps I'm just strange...

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll try and find a stockist to try one on for size.

I'm 6, 5. And 18 1/2 stone. My advice would be keep away from IMAX. As I couldn't bend to reach tackle box etc. I've recently got a Sundridge Crossflow 2pc and a pair of Sundridge sallopettes and u cannot fault them. Total freedom and comfort whilst casting. The hood even comfortably fits! Ha. Honestly m8. At least try some on in shop. Best thing ive ever bought. And I won't go past them. They are a GIANT size. Biggest they do. And they are spot on.
